I am therefore able to see clients from Portsmouth, Southampton, Chichester, Fareham, Guildford, Havant, Petersfield, Bognor and surrounding areas in person – or remotely from as far away as London, Manchester, Birmingham or even Glasgow by video calls or telephone.
I am an Accredited Registered Member of the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP) and a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN).
What is Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a psychological approach which is based on scientific principles and which research has shown to be highly effective for a wide range of problems. Clients and therapists work together to identify and understand problems in terms of the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviours. The approach usually focuses on difficulties in the here and now, and relies on the therapist and client developing a shared view of the individual’s problem. This then leads to the identification of personalized, time-limited therapy goals which are continually monitored and evaluated. CBT can be used to help anyone irrespective of ability, culture, race, age and gender.

What sort of Problems can CBT help with?
Anxiety | Stress | Depression | Low self-esteem | Phobias | Panic attacks | Trauma (PTSD) | OCD | General Anxiety Disorder
What can I expect in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?
CBT is time-limited and, based on the understanding of your difficulty, we will work together to identify goals and agree a shared treatment plan. The focus of the therapy is to enable you, as the client, to generate solutions to your problems that are more helpful than your current ways of coping. Sessions will normally be weekly, last for 50 minutes and can be either face-to-face at my clinic, or remotely by telephone or Zoom video calls. The number required varies and will depend upon your difficulty and it’s complexity. However, this is your therapy and the number of sessions you choose to undergo is of course entirely up to you and the progress you make. This approach will also involve using the time between appointments to test out your new skills as the more time you can put in outside of our sessions, the better results we should expect to see.
